The home of JPH Cunningham was built in a Victorian style, and was home to the director of the First National Bank in downtown New Castle. His wife, Perry Woodward Caroline, passed away in 1922 in Lawrence County. Much was to be said about JPH Cunningham in the New Castle News during his time as a leader in the city.

His silver mesh wrist-let was once lost on Highland or Hazelcroft Avenue in 1915, and a reward was announced if it was found. He was also mentioned in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for attending Pasadena’s Horse Show, referring to his attendance as a “magnet for high society folk,”. After he passed away in 1922, his funeral was held in his home on North Jefferson Street.
